How to setup Gryph Mail (University of Guelph Email) with Gmail

Setting up Gryph mail in Gmail can be somewhat complex for doing it your first time, that is why I am making this blog post to quickly show how to add the Gryph mail account.

  1. Start off by going to Setting -> Accounts and Imports
  2. Navigate down to the POP3 section and click  “Add a POP3 mail account you own” :

  3. Once you click the button a window will pop up like so:

    2014-07-26 08_58_26-

Add your Gryph mail email address into this field. It will look something like username@uoguelph.ca. Here is mine as an example:

  4. Use the following settings for the fields:

Username: Your Guelph Central Login Username

Password: Your Guelph Central Login Password

POP Server: mail.uoguelph.ca (may already be autofilled for you)

Port: 110 (should also be autoselected as well)

And then personally I check off the option “Leave a copy of retrieved message on the server” just so that I can always still check GryphMail. Your settings should look something like mine:

  5. Simply hit “Add Account” and you are setup to receive messages!

Now you are going to want to scroll up in the settings and choose to setup the “send mail as” feature. Click to add an account and select the option to “Use as an alias” and that you want to setup your own SMTP server. Use the following settings:

Username: Your Guelph Central Login Username

Password: Your Guelph Central Login Password

SMTP Server: smtp.mail.uoguelph.ca

Port: 587

If you have any questions feel free to leave a comment and I will get back to you!
